Corporate History Mike Webster got his start in the flooring business in 1979 working as a warehouseman in a local carpet store. It was a natural progression for Mike as he moved into installation and then realized a lifelong dream when he and his wife, Susie, opened their own commercial flooring company.
Since its inception, M & S Flooring has grown from a fledgling start-up to an enviable position within the Dayton / Cincinnati commercial flooring market. Mike Webster’s personal drive to learn and excel sets the tone for the entire organization. Mike champions a phenomenal team by surrounding himself with exceptional talents and facilitating their growth and success.
Dennis Sturgill, a partner with Mike Webster since 1983, has been instrumental in establishing a culture of excellence within the company. Dennis personally set the standard as an installer in the early years, and since 1999 utilizes that expertise as Vice President of Operations.
Mike Webster managed sales growth in previous years but strategically added Doug Gerhart as Sales Manager in 2003. Doug brought his twenty years of flooring experience and has quickly built a powerful sales team. Doug’s leadership has spurred recent sales growth.
In 2004, Ken Caldwell joined the company as the Director of Business Development to enhance M & S Flooring’s presence in the combined Dayton / Cincinnati markets. With Ken’s twenty plus years of business development experience in the construction industry, he forged a path into new markets that elevated M & S Flooring to a higher level in negotiated business. In May of 2006, Ken was able to purchase the business of a customer of M & S Flooring’s thus pursuing a life long dream. Mike Webster has assumed the role of Business Development and continued implementing the strategic sales plan developed in concert with Ken over the past two years.
Rapid revenue growth revealed the necessity for more structured fiscal systems and controls. Dave Becker joined M & S FLooring as Controller in January of 2005. Dave has a BS in accounting and has over ten years of extensive experience in building products, contracting, distribution and finance.
Mike Webster’s personal philosophy is to attract, build and maintain a loyal customer base through a customer-oriented focus. Developing a long-lasting trust bond with customers, employees and business partners is central to Mike’s business success. Mike seeks diversity within his organization and strives to give deserving individuals “a second chance.” Mike is self-educated, constantly works to earn respect as a leader and practices his Christian business principles on a daily basis.
